We use the Conditional Type 1 to express events which can occur in the present or the future. It\u2019s very likely that the conditions will be true.<\/p>\n<p>its form is: <strong>if+Subject+Verb (simple present)+Subject+Will+Verb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sentence is composed of two parts, the Conditional clause &amp; the Main clause.<\/p>\n<p>The conditional clause is formed by if+Present Simple, and the main clause is formed by Simple future (will+verb).<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not obligatory that the conditional clause be the first. The main clause can be the first and in this case there\u2019s no need to add the comma which separates the two clauses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s look at one example sentence:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If I work hard, I will pass the test.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf + (I work hard)\u201d is the if+Present Simple.\u00a0 \u201cI will + pass the past\u201d is the Simple future (will + verb). This formula is very consistent as we can see the following examples:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s cold, I will wear lot of clothes.<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s sunny, I will wear sun tan.<\/p>\n<p>If you talk to me, I will go away.<\/p>\n<p>You can also swap the clauses around:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I will join If you play tennis.<\/p>\n<p>I will pick up the phone If she calls me.<\/p>\n<p>He will play with his friends if I read a book.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s look at some new examples but this time with the word, \u201cnot\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t wake up early, you will miss the course.<\/p>\n<p>If you won\u2019t talk to me then I will go.<\/p>\n<p>He will fix the table if I don\u2019t bother him.<\/p>\n<p>You can also use modal verbs instead of \u201cwould\u201d to change the meaning of the sentence:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s sunny, we might get sunburnt.<\/p>\n<p>If she isn\u2019t there, we could just leave.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s do some exercises with what we have learned already.
